I just finished this one & snapped a couple of pictures. The koa is so nice, I couldn't resist posting. The B/S set is from Bruce Kreps at Notable Tonewoods.

Very nice!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Steve, can't really add anything to other comments. I like these posts; enjoy seeing how all the various tonewoods look under finish. Your's is a job to be proud of.

Thanks for the kind comments. Several folks asked to see the slot head, so pics posted below. My apologies for no inlay. It's the next skill I need to develop. The tuners are Waverley 3-on-a-plate with snakewood buttons. The buttons are a nice complement to the koa.

Lovely guitar Steve! And the headstock looks just fine without any inlay!

Alex

Very nice! The Koa is great, but so is that Sitka.
And are those maple bindings? Good match for the sapwood center.
Tasty...really tasty.

Steve
